After Care

At Duchess, we believe every vintage timepiece deserves thoughtful care to preserve its beauty and performance. Here's how you can keep your watch in excellent condition for years to come:

1. Avoid Water Exposure

Avoid wearing your watch while showering, swimming, or washing hands to prevent moisture damage.

2. Handle With Clean, Dry Hands

When adjusting the time or winding a mechanical piece, always use clean, dry hands to avoid transferring oils or dirt to the crown and case.

3. Wind Gently

For manual watches, wind the crown slowly and stop as soon as you feel resistance. Over-winding can damage the movement.

4. Store Properly

When not in use, keep your watch in a dry, cool place — ideally in a watch box or pouch. Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent fading or corrosion.

5. Keep Away from Magnets

Magnetic fields (from electronics or bags with magnetic clasps) can affect timekeeping accuracy. Keep your watch away from strong magnets whenever possible.

6. Service Every 3–5 Years

Even vintage watches need regular maintenance. We recommend servicing mechanical watches every 3–5 years to keep the movement running smoothly.

7. Use a Soft Cloth

Wipe your watch with a soft, lint-free cloth after wear to remove sweat and dust, especially if it's been worn on a hot or humid day.
